Steff Wright from Gusto Group Collingham joined Business Declares climate and nature event in London

A businessman who is passionate about the environment attended London as part of a large group that declared that changes must be made to combat the climate crisis.

Steff Wright, the head of Collingham's Gusto Group joined the Business Declares queue for climate and nature event in London.

Wright said that he and his contingent started the day with a plant-based breakfast at the Royal Automobile Club before making their way to St. Paul's Cathedral.

They then joined a queue of about 400 business leaders which spanned across the Millennium Bridge.

The business people also signed a book urging all of the political parties to address what they say is a critical need to implement policies that have climate and nature at the heart of them.

"A walk through central London is a reminder that throughout history our nation has shown incredible leadership and led the world," said Steff Wright.

"Not always in a good way but we have certainly been ambitious, and that ambition has shaped our current history.

"At this pivotal moment, we once again have the opportunity to lead the world through a transition to a healthy, carbon-neutral economy.

"If we do show that leadership, the next generation will certainly be very proud and relieved that as a nation, we stepped up.

"It is very disappointing that this current government is rowing back on commitments due to pressure from industries that are only focusing on short-term profit.

"We are not short of purpose-driven entrepreneurial business leaders and it was great to meet up with a bunch of them in the queue.

"The solutions are out there, and clear leadership from government will give confidence to businesses in making their investments."
